Our OBGYN service offers advanced, consultant-led women’s health across outpatient, inpatient, day-care, and 24/7 emergency settings. Facilities include dedicated operating theatres, delivery rooms and recovery units, comprehensive ultrasound and fetal assessment, and NICU/neonatal support. Minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery is delivered through a specialized unit with a custom OT and extensive laparoscopy/hysteroscopy experience. The ultrasound suite supports prenatal screening and invasive fetal procedures (CVS, amniocentesis, intrauterine transfusion) alongside 3D/4D imaging; a gynaecological laser treatment center complements benign gynaecology services. Standardized care pathways, infection-prevention measures, antimicrobial stewardship, and regular audits/M&M meetings ensure quality and safety.
As a teaching unit of RLKU Medical College, the department aligns with the UHS curriculum and mapped outcomes. Students gain competencies in focused obstetric and gynaecologic history/examination (with consent and chaperone), antenatal risk stratification, partograph use, CTG interpretation, initial management of obstetric emergencies (PPH, eclampsia, sepsis), contraception counselling, and basics of infertility workups. Teaching–learning occurs on ward rounds, antenatal/postnatal clinics, labour & delivery exposure under supervision, OT observership/assisting, CPCs/MDTs, and Skills-Lab simulations (normal delivery, AMTSL, obstetric emergency drills, neonatal resuscitation with Pediatrics). Structured timetables defined faculty allocation and staff duty rosters, and institutional SOPs support consistent training and patient-centered care.
