Department of Anaesthesia
The Department of Anaesthesia of RLKU consists of Professor Dr Hana Khurshid, Associate Professors Dr Sabir Ali Khan and Dr Zulqarnain Butt, assistant Professor Dr Anwar Kamal Pasha, Speciality Registrar Dr Qayyum Ahmed Siddiqui, 11 Post Graduation Trainees and 5 Senior Medical Officers.
Anaesthesia Department of Rashid Latif Medical University is providing Anaesthesia care in Hamid Latif Teaching Hospital and Hamid Latif Hospital and is concerned with care of patients in perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery.
It consists of Anaesthesia, Intensive care medicine, Critical Emergency medicine and Pain medicine.
The department is providing clinical services inside Operation Theatres for surgeries of various specialities i.e. General Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery and Paediatric Surgery, and also provides invasive and non-invasive procedures outside the operation theatre environment like MRI. ECT. Cardiac Catheterization, CT Scans and interventional radiological procedures.
The department is also managing the medical ICU and providing care to the patients needing critical care via competent intensivists.
The department is recognized with College of physician and Surgeons Pakistan for the fellowship training in anaesthesia.
The department is also conducting Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) workshops lead by Professor Dr Hana Khurshid recognized by American Heart Association (AHA).
