Research Publication Policy
1. Purpose
1.1 The Publication Policy outlines the guidelines and principles for the publication and dissemination of research findings within the purview of the Research Advisory Committee.
1.2 It aims to promote responsible and ethical publication practices, ensure the integrity and quality of research publications, and maximize the impact and visibility of research outcomes.
2. Scope
2.1 This policy applies to all research projects and activities conducted under the auspices of the Research Advisory Committee, including faculty members, students, and collaborating researchers.
3. Publication Guidelines
3.1 Responsible Authorship:
3.1.1 Researchers should adhere to the guidelines set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) or the relevant publishing body for authorship criteria.
3.1.2 All individuals who have contributed significantly to the research should be listed as authors, while others should be acknowledged appropriately.
3.1.3 Each Department must publish at least two research papers and one by each faculty annually in a journal approved by PMDC/HEC. This includes one student’s research and one faculty research paper from each department.
3.2 Publication Ethics:
3.2.1 Researchers should adhere to ethical standards in publishing, including avoiding plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or any other unethical practices.
3.2.2 Proper citation and acknowledgment of previously published work should be ensured
3.3 Selection of Publishing Outlets:
3.3.1 Researchers should choose reputable, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, or other appropriate publications channels based on the research’s relevance, scope, and quality.
3.3.2 Open access and accessibility of research publications should be considered to maximize dissemination and knowledge sharing.
3.4 Review Process:
3.4.1 Researchers should comply with the review process of the selected publication outlets, including the submission of research manuscripts for peer review.
3.4.2 Addressing reviewers' comments and suggestions should be done in a timely and respectful manner to improve the quality of the manuscript.
3.5 Intellectual Property Rights:
3.5.1 Researchers should respect intellectual property rights and copyright laws.
3.5.2 Proper attribution, permissions, and licensing should be ensured when using copyrighted material in research publications.
3.6 Data Sharing and Reproducibility:
3.6.1 Researchers are encouraged to share research data, methods, and materials to facilitate the reproducibility and transparency of research findings.
3.6.1 Data sharing should comply with relevant privacy and confidentiality requirements and follow appropriate data sharing agreements or repositories.
3.7 Authorship Disputes and Misconduct:
3.7.1 The IRB shall provide guidance and support in resolving authorship disputes or allegations of research misconduct related to publication activities.
3.8 Reporting and Dissemination Support:
3.8.1 Researchers are encouraged to report their research outcomes in seminars, workshops and publications.
3.8.2 The Research Advisory committee may provide resources, guidance, and opportunities for dissemination through scientific conferences, workshops, or other relevant platforms.
4. Review and Updates
This Publication Policy shall be periodically reviewed, updated, and communicated to all relevant stakeholders to reflect changes in publication practices, ethical standards, and emerging trends.
