A course on quality control for hospital lab technicians would cover essential topics to ensure accurate and reliable test results while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Here's a brief overview of such a course:
Introduction to Quality Control: Describing the importance of quality control in healthcare settings, including its impact on patient care and safety.
Familiarization with regulatory requirements and standards applicable to hospital laboratories, such as Punjab Health care Commission accreditation.
Train participants on various QC techniques, including internal and external quality control measures, proficiency testing.
Strategies for identifying and resolving errors or deviations in laboratory procedures, including troubleshooting instrument malfunctions and addressing pre-analytical and analytical variables.
Introduce risk management tools and techniques to minimize potential risks to patients and staff.
Teach methodologies such as Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) and Six Sigma for continuous quality improvement.
Provide an understanding of laboratory information systems (LIS) and their role in quality assurance.
Discuss the importance of accurate data management and reporting for maintaining quality.
